A HEALTHY START IN LIFE – FOR EVERY CHILD

Hawa is overwhelmed with joy: She gave birth to her healthy daughter Jebbeh. A mosquito net protected both from malaria. “Jebbeh shall become a nurse one day”, Hawa wishes for her daughter. “Then”, she explains “Jebbeh can help many people”. In her homeland many children don’t even survive their fifth birthday. Hawa suckles her daughter. Health workers told Hawa to feed her daughter breast milk to give her the best nutrition. These workers were trained and educated by UNICEF.

Hawa lives in a village a day’s march away from the next health care center. Her first two children were born at home. “It was horrible”, Hawa remembers. “My body was hurting and I had a high fever”. Thanks to your help UNICEF can train volunteer health workers in such villages. Educated health workers take care of young mothers and inform about the services provided by the health care centers. These projects are very important to the United Internet for UNICEF Foundation. Together we will help more children to survive.

A healthy start in Life - for every child

By using mosquito nets, applying vaccine programs and educating health workers UNICEF could reach out to millions of children in Sierra Leone. Your help already contributed to a considerably lower child mortality rate today!

This success motivates us to keep improving every child’s health care. Unfortunately, still many children don’t have mosquito nets to protect themselves or die of other preventable diseases. Help children like Jebbeh now! Thank you very much for your kind donation.
